After graduating from the film program at Queen's University in 2005, Derek Rucas has been working in the film and television industry and writing coverage reports for Midori Multimedia. He completed his first screenplay, "Extremist" in June 2006.

In the fall of 2007, Rucas collaborated with documentary producer Anna Sand to make his first short film since film school titled, "John, I'm Sorry". "John, I'm Sorry" was screened at the Mid Ulster Film Festival in Ireland in May 2008.

Rucas continues working on corporate and commercial projects, as well as documentary and narrative video production. Rucas and Sand are currently filming a documentary slated for future release.
